Noise of aircrafts around an airport is becoming a
problem in an increasing number of countries. Several
measures are introduced to reduce the noise effects on
local communities. One of these measures is the Preferential
Runway System. This defines the use of runways in order to
arrange the distribution of aircraft traffic around the airport.

Rose is a Runway Use Advisory System that helps air traffic
controllers select the preferred runway combination to minimize community noise.
The best runway combination is advised,
based on the Preferential Runway System, actual weather conditions
and weather forecasts, traffic and runway availability .
